It’s a sad thought but Joeyredmond.net has NOT been updated or maintained at all so I am going to move the blog to one of the “Staff” blogs at Wrecked Magazine. Currently as the head editor/part owner of the magazine that is where I seem to spend all of my off time from doing client work so it makes sense to stick my blog over there. Now go visit the blog, I promise you this one will stay updated!!!!!!!

NASCAR Coca-Cola 600 Weekend!

Adventures, Filming, NASCAR, PM Lifestyle, Travel No Comments »

After visiting Joe Gibbs we headed to Lowe’s Motor Speedway to enjoy the longest race of the season mileage wise in NASCAR. 600 laps around the track in Charlotte would put each car on the track to quite a test. The Nationwide race the night before was excellent as Kyle Busch took home the victory in the #32 Dollar General car. Here is a little video from victory lane I shot.
Kyle Busch wins another race

Before the 600 we grabbed some Vietnamese food with Phil and the Theory guys at Pho Real in Charlotte. It was an excellent place and I got a great meal with fried rice, eggs, and beef!

Also before the race Kyle Busch visited the Coca-Cola stage on Speed Street to do an interview. After Kyle Busch took to the stage Stanton Barrett also came by for a chat with the fans.

Here is a view of the track from the back stretch of Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

Right after Formula D we drove up to Mooresville, North Carolina to meet up with MMI and get ready for the NASCAR All-Star race weekend. Blair Stopnik took us to a great Carolina BBQ spot called Lancaster’s BBQ. It was full of NASCAR memorabilia.

Bryce from Joe Gibbs Racing took us on a full tour of the facility which was amazing. For you non NASCAR fans Joe Gibbs Racing runs the #20 car (Tony Stewart), # 18 car (Kyle Busch), and #11 car (Denny Hamlin). We were unable to take photos inside JGR but I snapped these from the viewing deck that visitors can watch the cars in the process of building.

The Daytona 500

We started off Sunday by visiting the camper/tent area within the infield to go pass out some Stanton Barrett flags and other NOS merchandise. The first “lady” we came across gladly took a flag and tried to steal our dollars.

We were touring around the infield and came across some nice setups to view the race.

Closing the Daytona 500 Kyle Busch finished 4th in the 500! That closed out his weekend with a second in Truck, second in Nationwide, and fourth in the Cup race! What a weekend as we headed home to complete some other projects right after the race.

Right across from the Daytona 500 entrance way was the NOS activation center that was filled with people grabbing free samples and other NASCAR toys and prizes.

150 Gatorade Dual’s!

Filming, NASCAR, PM Lifestyle No Comments »

We headed to the Daytona Speedway again to prepare for the Gatorade Dual. The Gatorade Dual is how the NASCAR drivers must qualify for the 500 on Sunday. It is broken into two heats and many drivers are “Go or Go Home” teams that must qualify past a certain place to enter the 500 on Sunday.

After the first dual Stanton Barrett got his chance to clinch a place in the Daytona 500 in the second dual. On lap 15 Franchitti improperly steered back onto the track after falling off the banking when your suppose to lock your tires up and steer all the way to the left into the inside of the track. Instead he hung right and smashed into the NOS 50 car going about 180mph. Luckily Stanton was okay but the NOS Energy Drink sprint cup car was a right off and so was the chances of it making the big race Sunday.

Cup Practice for the Daytona 500

Early in the morning with a look of rain in the sky we walked through the cup garage ready for a day of racing.

Walking around the garage after the first groups went out to run I found Kurt Busch’s tire from the Miller Light Dodge Charger that received some damage.

Still heading through the garage I came across Stanton Barrett in the #50 NOS Energy Drink car who is geared up for tomorrow’s Gatorade Dual.

So I hopped in the Infiniti G35 and tried to rush to the airport to catch my flight to Daytona Beach, Florida. Lucky me, this is what showed up about half way to the airport while sitting in traffic.

We made it to the airport and got ready for the quick flight to Daytona International Airport.

When you arrive at Daytona Beach’s airport you are greeted by by a sign that says “The home of NASCAR and the LPGA tour.” Quite an interesting mix of entertainment but we had to get moving to head to WalMart and catch up with Stanton Barrett and Ski Motorsports.

Daytona Beach

Phil grabbed us and we rushed to the first Walmart only to be greeted by some nice rain.  Fans still came out to get items signed by Stanton.

Walmart

After packing up at the first Walmart we headed to another WalMart in the local Daytona Beach area while it continued to rain and got lost somewhere in that mix.

After that we grabbed some dinner and called it a night after heading to our house in Ponce Inlet. We were getting ready to see cup practice the next day and then the Gatorade Dual on Thursday.

Dover, Delaware and the Monster Mile!

Filming, NASCAR, PM Lifestyle No Comments »

We flew into Philadelphia on Thursday night to gear up for the NOS Energy Drink NASCAR Busch car to rip up the Monster Mile! We picked up Phil and Andy from Theory PR and rolled into Dover! We crashed at the Dover Downs Hotel and had a killer view of turn three.

At the Ski Motorsports trailer we got to try the new NOS Grape which was delicious. You guys need to try this one, way better than fruit punch.

NOS Grape

I saw many “firsts” this weekend including fried candy bars which Jason somehow consumed. He ate a fried Milky Way…..don’t worry, video will surface soon! This is us watching Stanton Barrett hammering out his qualifying runs which ranked him 15th for the Busch race on Saturday.

NOS Trailer

This is right before the race started, on lap 4 Stanton Barrett got into the Discount Tire car right at turn 3! Luckily the team was able to hang out and finish the race with a ton of duct tape all over the front end. All and all a killer weekend!
